Material partnerships

Give your materials a place in the story.

Bring a consistent stream from your operation for assessment, then explore what it could honestly become.

One connected process

Waste does not become a product in one leap.

  1. 01

    Collect

Separate a known waste stream at source.

  2. 02

    Reduce

Grind, clean, dry, grade and establish a material recipe.

  3. 03

    Industrial Symbiosis

    Work with our suppliers

  4. 04

    Manufacture

Make approved parts through the right process.

  5. 05

    Return

Put the product and its material record into use.

Why specify MadeBy

Material character, with project discipline.

01

Design that earns its place

Recovered content matters only when the finished object is useful and desirable.

02

One project language

Lighting, furniture and objects can work coherently across a space.

03

Your material story

An assessed stream can connect an operation directly with its interior.

04

A record that travels

Material records explain where a piece began and how it was made.

05

Care beyond first use

Repair, separable parts and next-life planning are considered with the brief.

From brief to delivery

Start with what the project needs.

  1. 01

    Share the brief

Tell us about the space, pieces, quantities, finishes and timing.

  2. 02

    Review samples

See the physical material and agree its character and application.

  3. 03

    Confirm the route

We set out production, quote and programme before making begins.

  4. 04

    Make and deliver

Products are made to order and supplied with their material story.

Own-material assessment

Your waste could become part of your next interior.

No stream is accepted on assumption. We first understand source, identity, contamination, volume, storage and geography. If the material is practical to sample, testing determines what it can do well.

Questions before you start

Clear answers, close to the decision.

Can we order without supplying material?+

Yes. Specify pieces from the existing collection as individual items or project quantities.

Can you support more than one site?+

Yes. Share the locations, quantities and programme so the production route can be assessed as one brief.

Can we use our own coffee, plastic, card or glass?+

Potentially. Every source is assessed for identity, condition, contamination, volume and practical collection before samples are accepted.

Will our exact material return in our products?+

Only where a segregated, traceable batch and suitable manufacturing route are agreed. We will not imply a closed loop that cannot be evidenced.

Can branding appear on a piece?+

Branding, signage and project-specific details can be scoped where they suit the object and manufacturing process.
